In Memory of Todd Johnson

Todd passed away 12-4-05 of a rare fatal disease, survived by his wife Nicole and daughter Alex.  His memorial services were held on 12-11-05 at Ventura Harbor beach.

Todd was an incredibly talented man that set sail on man's boldest, most mysterious adventure much too soon ... he will be sorely missed by all!

To commemorate Todd, EISF planted a fernleaf Catalina ironwood (North America's rarest tree found only in the Channel Islands)  on the beach at Surfers Knoll Park by where he lived in Ventura Harbor.

Please check back to this site soon for a formal dedication to Todd's life and work. For now, a quick bio that he wrote about himself...

Todd was an electrical engineer turned software guru from Arizona, who spent more than a decade running his own tech firm before deciding he needed a break from the rat race (not to mention the Arizona heat). So he embraced his life-long love of the ocean, left Arizona, moved aboard a sailboat and went cruising, along with his wife Nicole.

His travels ultimately landed him in Ventura where his path crossed EISF.  Todd told us: “When I was twelve I wanted to be either an oceanographer or a filmmaker… but somehow I ended up becoming a computer geek instead”.  Through the Essential Image Source Foundation, Todd found an ideal way to share his technological skills and be involved with both oceanography and filmmaking. He was a talented still photographer and EISF is honored to feature some of his photographs on the web site. Todd was also an accomplished musician and EISF will be featuring his songs to film.

Todd created this web site, transforming the former static site into a graphic rich, interactive online community. Todd also developed programming for the EISF Media Bank, which includes video footage, audio files, as well as, photo galleries.
